Our Plans for Growth

2021 was a year of tremendous learning. As we look toward 2022, we are positioning ourselves to grow our team, our programs, and our pathway to a sustainable future.

Three elements of our growth plan

● Grow our team

● Support impact-driven entrepreneurs through Summit Impact Labs

● Cultivate a strong core community through the Summit Impact Community Programs

Growing our Team

Hello from our New Hires

We are excited to share a quick hello from two of our newest team members, Vivian Kalea, Director of Operations, and Jamelia Jones, Program Manager, who joined Summit Impact this past December! With more team members joining in 2022, we are growing our foundation to scale Summit Impact programs.

Vivian Kalea

(she/her)

Director of Operations

Vivian believes in the power of being an empathetic leader, and she is passionate about building cultures and organizational systems that empower teams to do their best work. She is excited to bring her background in operations and product management in startups to help Summit Impact rapidly scale.

I'm so excited to see how our amazing community of people can drive social good through connection and collaboration.

Jamelia Kelsey

Jones

(she/her)

Program Manager

Jamelia is a curiosity-driven, audaciously experimental social warrior who has traversed nonprofit, event marketing, and tech startup industries in pursuit to bring a more integrated approach to solving the problems in the social sector. Working with companies like the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Gail & Rice, On Deck, and Acumen, Jamelia has seen the power of relationships and imaginative solutions to provoke innovation for transformative change.

In my work with Summit Impact, I envision connecting the dots within and between ecosystems to redefine systems of collaboration and produce influential social value on a larger global scale.

Growing Our Two Foundational Programs

(1) Launching New Impact Labs

An evolution of our Summit Fellows program, Impact Labs gather social change leaders with Summit’s broader interdisciplinary community to collaborate year-round. In 2022, we will be launching 1-2 new labs to complement our pilot Criminal Justice Lab.

Focus

Each lab focuses on a specific topic like criminal justice, mental health, or education.

Fellows

Each Impact Lab is led by a cohort of 4-8 social change leaders, called Summit Fellows.

Network

Lab members connect through a series of in-person events, 1:1 introductions, and virtual gatherings.

Program

In curated project teams, lab members and Fellows achieve specific goals each quarter.

Progress

With the support of community members and new access to expertise, capital, and creative resources, Fellows drive progress and scale their impact.

(2) Launching the Summit Impact Community

The Summit Impact community is a group of thoughtful, engaged, and committed individuals who recognize collaboration is essential to drive progress. With Summit Fellows guiding the way forward, we activate shared resources and drive progress for a better future.

The Summit Impact community includes Fellows alumni, mentors, supporters and other engaged Summit community members.

In 2022 we will launch a more cohesive Summit Impact community program. From local dinners and gatherings at Summit events to virtual learning and ongoing introductions, our new programs will bring enhanced opportunities to support social impact leaders, connect with other community members, and collaborate on creative projects.

What a privilege to be connected to such a curated and special group of people who are doing remarkable work in the world. Summit Impact has already done the hard work of engaging the kind of people you want to know and support and advance– from the mentors, to fellows, to special guests and master class speakers –I have loved and grown from meeting every one of these people. I feel so fortunate to be part of this organization at this influential and foundational time.

Closing Reflection

We launched this bright new organization at the end of 2020, and in 2021 we evolved the fellowship program and launched new pilots. In 2022, we will focus on more opportunities for connecting this inspiring community, on refining our two core programs, and on building the foundations to grow sustainably in the years ahead.

Thank you for engaging with and supporting our work at Summit Impact. We are only as strong as our community, and we look forward to another year of growing and building together.

The world doesn’t change one person at a time. It changes as networks of relationships form among people who discover they share a common cause and vision of what’s possible.
This is good news for those of us intent on changing the world and creating a positive future. Rather than worry about critical mass, our work is to foster critical connections.
